Tow hitch
I'm considering a towing package for my 2004, but my dealer had trouble with another 2004 in that they couldn't locate a proper voltage source for electric brakes. They found sources with either full lockup signal or full release signal with service brake application. I would like to maintain the ground clearance I have by installing a factory hitch, as some aftermarket models drop below the level of the bumper and compromise ground clearance and spare tire access. I would appreciate any input on hitch installation-thanks!

I bought a hitch from hidden hitch and it fits under the existing bumper. I did not like how Volvo cuts into the factory bumper to install their hitch. I installed it myself in about 30 - 40 minutes on my 2004 XC90. It was really not a big deal. However, I have not done any wiring because I use the reciever for a bike rack.

Just wanted to recommend the Hidden-Hitch for any XC90 owners considering a hitch. Mine fit like a glove, no cutting of the bumper and the entire thing is hidden except for the receiver itself. Installed it by myself in my driveway in about 45 minutes. The factory tow hook will need slight modification to be reinstalled in the original location, but having the hitch receiver pretty much eliminates the need for the tow hook.
Got mine from etrailer.com for about $140 including shipping. Beats the heck out of $500+ for the Volvo factory hitch.
