Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

SRS-Airbag Service light

Post by pilot »

Recently had a bad alternator (putting out only 11.5 volts). All things screwy happened. Replaced alternator but still have SRS-Airbag Service Urgent. Any way to reset this without the dealer?

Can't be done without the dealer. Local shops can reset "Check Engine" but not the message center. I just went through similar with a battery change. Dealer charged me $45.

Have to agree with the above poster. My youngest son left the rear door opened over night while the car sat in the garage. The next morning the battery was dead. I was able to jump the car but the "SRS Airbag Service Urgent" warning light immediately came on. I followed the reset instructions posted on another web site (turn key to position 1 - hold down odometer - turn key to position 2 - wait until the beep). Well I did wait until the beep, but the warning light never went away. I asked a non-Volvo dealer shop to reset the message and they couldn't. Now I am going to be stuck with taking my S80 to the dealer AGAIN.
