The latest Vehicle Dependability Study by J.D. Power came out two weeks ago. You guys probably could guess that Volvo is once again below industry average in reliability. Being beat out by Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, BMW, and Cadillac. That would mean Volvo has been in this spot for the past 6 years. The best part is, we all know it is going to be the same next year as well.
But what surprises me the most is the fact that here we have so many different Volvo owners together discussing issues and not one is talking about the real problem, Volvo. You guys have a tremendous chance to make a difference, to make Volvo wake up if you will just realize how poor these cars really are. I go on to this page and look at these tips on how to fix things, especially on XC90s and the S60s and I notice most of these fixes are MALFUNCTIONS by the manufacturer. You guys should not be responsible for fixing or paying one dime to fix these things especially since there are companies out there that dont hold you responsible, like Lexus or Infiniti.
Moreover, you guys dont seem to realize the poor service you are receiving at ANY volvo dealership. When my Volvo broke down, which it did plenty, I had to haul that thing myself to the dealership to get it fixed. Now some may it was foolish for me to go to the dealership in the first place, but I am a business executive I do not have time to look for a mechanic when I am on the road and so on. However with my Lexus (which has not had ONE problem, once) when my car needs servicing they will come to my home or office pick up my vehicle, drop off another Lexus for me to drive in the meantime and then come back when it is all done. Volvo will not do that.
Yet you guys really have the power to change all of that and you do not even try. You sit there wagging your tails shrugging off each problem like it is your fault and not theirs. If everyone of you gets together and even writes a letter or something discussing these issues that would be such a POWERFUL weapon, to hear complaints from so many customers at once.
If you guys dont do something soon Volvo will continue to suffer from poor service and quality, its inevitable. Last March Volvo celebrated reaching record high sales with their wagons, if you look at those figures that is the mean sales number for companies like Lexus and Cadillac. Volvo is a joke.

Yes I understand, but a Volvo 240 DL, the one I once had, did not cost what Volvo charges today for their cars. In fact it was comparable to a Honda or Toyota in pricing, yet even then those cars were still better.

I'm not quite getting the point of your post, perhaps you could explain better?
In one moment you say "we have to do something", yet in the other, you denounce a manufacturer.
Who cares? A car is a car is a car. I'll always root around in old Volvo's, because they have a charm all their own. Some enjoy boosting Civics deep into the 12s. Others like taking ratty, rusty AE86's around a corner with the rear in the lead.
Others like to throw a large chunk of money and get reliable transportation.
waiiittt... are you a Lexus salesman?
