1992 740 rough idle on start up
I just purchased a 1992 740 wagon with 185K miles. It had 1/2 a tank of 6 month old fuel that was topped off with fresh. Car ran great during test drive. After driving 100 miles with freshened fuel car was left outside in damp climate overnight. Started easily next morning but idled very rough and missed/hesitated on acceleration. Drove unil warm and idle smoothed out and ran great. Any ideas of best place to start looking for problem?

When was the last time you had the car checked out or tuned by a mechanic? It very well could need just a tune-up. I too just purchased my 240 and it idle'd rough when it first started up and the accelleration didn't feel quite right. I'm currently in the process of having a standard tuning job done (replacing the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor and making sure all the timing and idle adjustments are proper) and will know tomorrow afternoon if it helped.
