V40 side marker light--how to replace?

Post by Scott in DC »

I need to replace the left rear side marker light on my 2000 V40. I can pop the assembly out just fine, but I can't figure any way to get at the bulb. There's no socket to twist or pull out. The wires disappear under a formed piece of plastic that chips when I try to pry it up. I also can't figure any way to remove the colored lens to get at the bulb that way. Is this thing engineered as a single unit where the whole lamp assembly has to be replaced at once?

NOt true ...

I have been replacing light bulbs in my v40 ... this is how ...

buy a dashboard lughtbulb or a yellow led(+resistero to cope with 12v) ( yellow led will stand out but when you change all of then it wont be noticable - bit darker perhaps )

Take out the sidemarker- the hard part - the last ones push them forward, front ones push them back ...
make sure you dont break them but if you do stick them back tohether ... or if it is ugly break go and get a new sidemarker ... u oughta buy a new one anyway ...

when u get it out its just am simple matter or using flat screwdriver to remove the filling on behind , take out the old bulb, replace it with the new one and connect the wiring ...

then use the hot glue gun to fill it up... and put the thing back in ...

hope i made it clear ..
