Do I have a hook up for "code readings" somewhere on my 87 240 gl wagon?

If I do, can i buy a "code reader" from the parts store?

There is not an OBD II port which is what you are refering to. They came along about 1995 There might be a dealer diagnostic port but how one uses it I do not know.

theres a box under the hood that has an led that you plug into ports to get codes. use a haynes, bentley or chilton manual to find out how to do this and what the codes mean
