Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2000 S80 T6 "Did I get screwed?"

Post by guest »

I own a S70 with 245k miles and love it. I love it so, I bought a 2000 S80 T6 with 125k on it for $6500. It looks great and drive great, but I'm now wandering if I should have bought it. It has the check engine(wasn't on when I bought it) , ABS, and brake light on. I'm going to have it checked out this week. I am aware of the ABS module being repaired for $130, but the check engine light I'm afraid is going to be that "throttle module" everyone is complaining about. I do have a question to anyone who cares to answer. If I spend a $1000 or so on this car, will it give great dependability as my S70? Everyones comment is welcome, especially those that have S80's that have had bad or good luck. One other question, do I just call a dealer with the VIN to find out if my car has any pending recalls?

Thanks,
Mike

Do you feel bad about the car? I've had my moments, much like most who post here. But, can everything be fixed to get over 245k like the s70...yes. Don't assume that the ETM will come at YOUR expense (hassle, yes, but $, maybe not). Like every car it will require maintenance. However, it may come more often and at a higher price than other cars. Good luck.
