ticking noise Topic is solved

my car was rear ended in what the insurance conmpany/auto body shop call a minor accident of only 2k$ Immediately after that (the first time the car has been started the check engin light came on and there is a ticking noise...Im hearing these people tell me its all a coincidence. The exhaust pipe had to be replaced is that not attached to something....obviously I know very little about cars....it does have oil in it...it is a beautiful 1998 wagon with only 54k miles on it AND NOW IT TICKS...any ideas out there!?
