87 volvo dl wagon computer problems

Post by greg »

hello,

does anybody know a way to default the computer that controls the opening and the closing of the fuel injectors? at this point, after verifying that my fuel pumps worked, i found that the injectors werent closing and were flooding the engine.

just wanted to know if there was a way to default the computer before i replaced the computer all together.

thanks,

There is no way to "default" the computer, it is the computer (ECU) that controls the duty cycle of the injectors. I would perform some further diagnostics before identifying the ECU as the problem, the Volvo ECU is VERY reliable and seldom fails. Many input and sensor signals to the ECU can cause mixture problems; the O2 sensor, knock sensor, MAFS (mass airflow sensor), to name a few. Also the fuel pressure is critical on Volvo EFI systems, was a pressure reading taken or was fuel just present at the injectors.
