Idling misfires and truning issues

Post by dcunited122 »

I was sitting in my 89 780 Turbo the other day idling at a light and the rpm kinda jumped a little and then did it around a minutes later, is this a misfire?

If it is then could someone tell me what could be wrong and be replaced?

Also, the steering wheel became very difficult to turn, especially left. What could be the problem with this?

Thanks

clean your idle air control valve. It adjusts the amount of air your engine gets at idle. I never knew they needed to be cleaned occasionally. I cleaned mine at 235k and it runs and idles much better.

where is the idle air control valve? How hard is it to get to? Thanks for the reply

If you look at the intake hose going to your throttle body, you'll notice a hose about an inch in diameter connected to the bottom of it just before the throttle body. That hose goes to the IAC valve.

If i remember correctly.

Well, its a 780 and it has a trubo so its a little more confusing than that, does anyone know where the air idle control valve is on a 780 turbo? Thanks

If your steering wheel is harder to turn one way over the other it would most likely be the steering control valve in the steering rack and you would need a new rack.
