What does the warning light (fault in exhaust emmision control system)mean.I am getting an awfull lot of emmision smoke out of the exhaust could this be anything to do with the warning light or his the problem coming from the engine ie cylinder head gasket or piston rings

what color is the smoke thats comming out?

the light is prolly right, if the smoke is black the air/fuel mix is most likely too rich, if its blue then you might have an oil leak
