1999 S70 w/ Bad Alternator

Post by Guest »

Hello,
I have a 1999 S70 (79,000 miles) with the base 2.4 L I5 engine. For about 3-4 years now, the vehicle has made a chirping noise, which has consistently gotten worse. Starting the car in the morning is difficult because the vehicle cranks for a long time and when it starts, all of the lights flicker and the engine runs very rough for 3-4 seconds (it almost feels like it's going to stall). I replaced the battery and serpentine belt about 6 months ago but the problem is still there so I'm pretty sure that the alternator is the culprit. I would appreciate it if someone could provide me with the procedure for replacing the alternator. Thanks.
