2002 s40, 45K.
My driver side window sometimes will not roll up. After trying a few times it will usually go back up. Probably not switch since i hear a low moaning in door. Motor getting 'tired'? Is it hard to get door panel off and replace, or should i just take to a dealer. Brother-in-law is not a Complete idiot(has 850), but does not have any s40 knowledge. Should this be left to the experts or does someone have instructions to get panel off and at least survey the problem? I saw instructions for panel removal on other models but no S40. If it is motor, what kind of price should i expect?
TIA,
Melissa

It's not the motor if it's going up at all. It's probably the guides -- they're getting bent or broken, and the friction is causing the glass to move slowly.
I'd ask the brother to take off the panel and have a look. It's usually some confusing combination of a screw here, a clip there, then another screw somewhere else, ad nauseum.
