Wheels for XC70
I want to put factory 17" wheels on my 2000 XC70 in place of the 15" on there now. No, I'm not lookingfor the pimp look,
I just want to go back to 5 spoke and I got a deal on these. There isn't any drive train problem with the larger wheel is there? Please reply here or to [email protected] Thank you.

I noticed that Salty Dog had also gone to 17's but said to keep the same OD for the assembly. Why? What was the sidewall profile height you eventually went to to balance against the 205x65R15?

I was cursed with a 2001 XC - new body style - original equipment was 215/65 16 & I went to 225/60 17 on factory 'R' rims. 2 things....the all wheel drive system on your car is EXTREMELY suseptable to wheel diameter - even uneven tire inflation can shear axle pinions. also, your car's transmission shift points, abs, speedo, etc - all controled by wheel speed sensors & changing wheel rolling diameter will effect all those systems. For you to keep the same overall diameter, I beleive you would need to go to something like a 225/55 17 - bit of an oddball I think that's a Mazda sizing, but most tire catalogues will give a tire's OD in their price lists, as all manufacturers sizing differs slightly - but be VERY careful....you could bring a lot of misery into your life.

OOOOO, BAD. More like 205/50 17 (Porsche) or even 195/50 17 (Honda) but that's starting to get pretty small - don't forget about load range & ride comfort.......
