"Sticky" Fuel Guage

Post by Geoff »

After first fill-up of wife's new (actually demonstrator/loaner) V70 the fuel guage only went up to about 1/3 tank. It inched up to about 1/2 as I drove home. Tried rocking car and bouncing on the bumper. No joy. Wife drove about 20 mi. the next day and it did heal itself. I suppose it's a sending unit/float problem. Curious whether anyone has seen this before in the V70. Thanks for any theories.

If I start my 850, and quickly turn it off, then re-start it, the fuel gauge does the same thing. No idea why. I avoid doing the quick turn-off anyway, but it does happen every now and then.
