1998 v70 awd xc

Post by fran-n-calif »

I need a an almost new car with air conditioning. I have been driving a jeep wrangler since 1986-once I find something I like I tend to keep it.

I found a 1998 v70 awd xc with 81k mi. -very clean-I think I can get it for around 13k. Is this a car I would be able to drive for at least 10yrs? I am just not sure if this is going to be a reliable vehicle. Any suggestions?

Any car with 80K+ mi will need more maintenance than a new one of course. Volvos historically require average or more than average maintenance, and I think you'll find the repair and maintenance costs to be higher than average. That said, you'll surely love it if you do buy it.

One bit of advice--if you do pick this car, see if you can get the seller to perform the 5 year maintenance, which is a biggie. Timing and serpentine belts for starters, trans fluid, brake fluid flush, etc...
