Weird air conditioning.....'93 850 GLT

Post by Quondo »

Hi. Does anyone have this minor problem or if it is a problem at all? When my air conditioning is turned OFF, I notice that the air that continues to flow out of the vents is still quite cold like air conditioning. This still happens up to 30 minutes after shutting the a/c off and the air flowing into the cabin is usually cooler than the air outside. Could it be that the a/c is mixing together with the fresh air that should be coming in when turned off? :)

I found the same problem in my '93 850 GLT - the ac seemed to be on all the freakin' time! Then, I bought an owner's manual on ebay. I found out that regardless of the 'AC Off' switch setting, if the air direction setting is set on the defrost/windshield *only*, then the ac will remain on - but so will the heat. The idea is that this will give you dry air to help defrost the windshielf faster.

Also, check the air mix selector, which is, I believe, just to the left of the center dash vents above the radio. If this is open, outside air will come in... is it cold by you?
