740 wagon with 189k, having idle problem, dealer diagnosed AMM, sorry, but new one yelds little improvement in idle. Throtle body was cleaned, new flame trap (old was ok), replaced a few vacuum hoses. Checked TPS this afternoon with a ohm meter, it works acording to spec.
My IAC valve only opens about an 1/8 inch. It closes when trying to start the car (closes tight) but with the car off, or starving the engin for air it only opena a quarter of what looks like is available. I could not force it open either with a screw driver. Is this normal??
Sparate problem has happen twice now, car cranks, fires, and stalls once initial fuel load is used up in the engine. Playing with the throttle only uses up the fuel faster. Any thoughts, thanks
