please i need help my blower fan would not stop i have to disconnect the battery

If you are talking about the heater blower the fan is connected to 12 volts on one side and to the fan resister on the other side. If there is a short to ground in the resistor (fan control module)the fan will run even with the key off. There is a fuse in the fuse block that will kill the 12 volts to the fan, remove that fuse and you will not need to disconnect the battery. To test whether the fan control is bad unplug the fan from the control module - the module is located behind the golve compartment next to the fan -if the fan stops then change the fan resistor and all should be well. Note there are two types of resistors - one for electronic climate control and one for manual climate control, make sure you get the right one. A haynes manuel can show you how to get to the resistor. Hope this helps

i wanted to thank you for your help it was very kind, i changed the fan resistor like you said everything works fine exept each time i start the engine the l2 lights on the control unit are flashing for 20 sec , do you know why

When your resistor failed it put a code in your computer, the two lights flashing indicate the code is still there. That code needs to be erased from the computer. Unfortunately my book only goes up to 1995 so I don't know how to clear the code on your year. You might search this or other sights for the info, I believe I read somewhere you have to have a speacial tool for your model so you may want to take it to the dealer. Maybe someone else on this sight will reply with the right procedure. I am glad I could be of help.

Your Volvo stores information on how the car is running. If there's a fault(s), that fault will be stored as a code in the computer's memory. The fault may or may not also trigger a warning light like "Check Engine" or the dreaded flashing arrow. To see these codes on 1997 and newer Volvos, you must take your Volvo to:

a Volvo Dealer (call first to check price, reading should be free)

independent mechanic (call first to check price, reading should be free)

parts supplier (call first to check price, reading should be free)

or buy an OBDII tool to do it yourself ($100 - 300)
