240 speaker installation???
just got the new 4" speakers for my 82 240 turbo. only problem, is i cnt get the grilles off to install the new speakers. i think the grilles may be part of the door panel. i want to know how to take the grilles off and what steps i should take to install the new speakers. thanks!!!

I have an 81 240 and if similar you might have to take the panels off and undo it from behind. You didn't state but are the screws just turning and not turning out? If so the nut/lockwasher might be turning also.

The grills are part of the door panel. You need to take the entire door panel off to preserve the factory approach to speaker grills.
Work on one side at a time. After you've replaced one speaker - roll
the window down. It doesn't go right? Look at the uninstalled new speaker
compared to the one you've just removed. Are they the same thickness?
Do they sit the same way?
You may have to fabricate some bracket extentions to ensure a tight install and a working window...

the speakers sit too deeply in the wells, and the windows keep hitting them. any ideas on how i can get them to fit. i.e. those bracket extension doohickeys?

While you are checking that out, make sure your rubber seals around the window to keep the water from draining down behind into the door panel and onto the speakers are still intack and not broken out-
