My well maintained 91 240 B230 locked up with only 117K miles on it. I dropped the oil pan and found a bend connecting rod cap, two broken bolts, and various other pieces of shrapnle. The motor used no oil and ran like a top. Any ideas as to what might have caused this catastrophe?
Thanks
91 B230 locked up Topic is solved
That is hard to say, the 1990+ B230 is the stonger engine. A couple of potential causes could have been detonation which can cause piston failure which often leads to a thrown rod. Another cause could be a oil pump failure. It is rare but anything can happen.
