Thinking of buying an S40...... Topic is solved

I am thinking of buying an S40 but it was an import into the UK from Germany - Is this a problem ?
I have been told the German car would have better spec.
The car is an 'R' reg but not sure of original year of manuf. is there any way of telling from engine/chassis number or model number (and where would I look !!!???)
