help please - 240 fuel distribution question Topic is solved

my car is a Volvo 240DL 84 Model, 2.3 fuel injected auto. owned for 6 months, first time volvo owner.

can someone tell me, do these cars have fuel distributors that are different and separate from the usual fuel pump?

my car was idling rough (in drive only - not in park or nuetral) and my friend who is a mechanic couldn't figure out why. took the car to another mechanic who told me my 'fuel distributor' needed servicing, and that auto electricians have the special equipment to do this. he charged me $270 for this and it solved the problem. he also added that the fuel distruibutor was on its way out, and that i'd have to keep servicing it or get another one.

is it true that the fuel distributors are different and more compicated than most other cars, and that they need specialised equipment to service them that most mechanics don't have?

how difficult is it to replace the fuel distibutor and is it worth taking the chance on a second hand one?
