Does enybody know if I need new plugs for my car(volvo 850)94? It has 96000mi and has timing belt replaced at 69000.
I just bought it and is runing little raugh (idle)on park or stop /neutral.The vibration and the stearing weel came in waves and shake the well little bit. After i reach 20mph or 1500rpm it getting better..smooth!.Is this rugh this car year engine suposed to run on idle?
i cleaned air/tintake /flame trap and still rugh.The engine mounts looks good.
Should i expect a smooth idle after new sparkplugs? Are the 4+ bosh pugs any better(the ones with 4 /star top electrods) than the oem?

As far as the plugs go I have heard some issues with platinum tipped plugs and a few issues with the Bosch +4 (if I remember correctly they were all in turbo engines that had a few performance mods). I have also heard some great things about them as well... Denso Iridium is the only plug that my Volvo INDY will recomend that is not OEM.

I change my plugs every 30K with OEM plugs. You can get a few thousand more miles out of the stock plugs but they are not expensive or hard to change. If you still have the orrigional rotor, distribuator cap, and plug wires you should also go ahead and change them also as they have a 60K sevice cycle and can cause a rough idle as well.

Another area that needs regular service is the transmission. You need to change the fluid every 30 k there also.
