just thought id better drop you a line incase i havent given you the exact info, may save you a lot of time and some expense.
the vss located underneath on the gearbox end housing (right hand side of the car lookinf from the back to the front, i did not make an exact note of the sensor resistance reading, so that value may be slightly out. DONT WORRY IF IT DOESNT READ THE VALUE I GIVE YOU. it could be out by a few ohms + or -, give or take.
the important thing to notice, as it is a small microchip internally, the reading acoss the black and yellow wire will only read as a diode would, ie you will get a resistance one way only, and if you swap your multimeter leads/terminals around, it will read open circuit, no reading.
THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE.
if it is faulty, it will either read;
open circuit either way the leads are placed, or,
closed circuit either way the leads are placed.
as long as you get a reading one way, and not the other, it is not faulty.
hope you understood that.
regards,
les (& of course, reilly !)
"Transmission Service Required" message Topic is solved
Thanks again. Yes i figured it would need the right polarity. I think it will check out OK as all systems are normal for maybe two days (about 50 mile each day) then Spedo and tac. shut down as well as the typical ABS,STC,and tall the other stuff like when the ABS controler went bad a year ago. Trans service message is also on as it was the first time. Unable to clear the message with my scanner and now we have the airbag message as well. All need to be checked and cleared by Volvo.
Thanks Tom
Thanks Tom
