98 S70 - popping noise from dash Topic is solved

My 98 Volvo S70 just started making this loud popping noise every minute or so when I drive it. The noise is coming from the passenger side of the dash (near the glove box).

Any clues? Is the cold weather to blame? Perhaps I should cram a shim in a few creases to see if I can stop the popping or cracking.

The bolts that hold the dash in place will easily snap off . They are located under the cowl beneath the wipers. Don't overtighten.
