Rattle under seat
My 855 is secondhand and I have arattle under my seat that drives me crazy. I thought it was in the console "tunnel" so I removed the cosole. That wasn't it. It sounds like 2-3 screws rolling through a small pipe. Sometimes side to side, sometimes fore and aft. They never seem to get caught on anything, just roll back and forth with the car. Any similar stories?

Are you sure the rattle is inside of the car? You might want to check if it makes any funny noises while in gear idling... if so, check if the noise originates from the Cat Converter... The Catalytic converter is filled with pellets that react with unburned hydrocarbons converting these by use of heat into harmless water and CO2 for the trees.
Also, under what driving conditions does this rattle appear? does it happen while you accelerate or brake, or is it just there all the time?
I understand your frustration, interior noises, from the dash and such and suspension noises drive me batty.
Good luck!

Thanks, Yes, it's inside. I dont know how the floor of the car is constructed, but it's almost like something inside a frame rail or something. Happens under all conditions.

Volvo has a floor heat duct to the rear seat. You can axcess it from the rear of the front seat.

Problem solved. There is a cutout for that rear air duct in the metal cross peice and that attaches the sill to the tunnel under the carpet. So far I have found two small wooden balls ( about .5 in. each, a pencil and a tube of what used to be chapstick.)
Thanks for all your help!
