Is the 2.3 an 8v or a 16v???

You can get the 2.3 L with either the 8V or 16V head configuration, it is common understanding that the 8V head is much more reliable, many problems with the 16V head cracking. There is also not a large gain in performance from the 16V, in fact for "normal" driving the 8V is better because of the lower and flatter torque curve.
