After not quite 20 years of faithful service I ran into what I fear is major trouble with my 240 last night. She ran very well on the way home.When I went to go out later in the evening, she started right up. However, when I went to put her into reverse, the only thing there was forward - in all shift positions. Additonally, none of the stops seem to remain on the shift - stick has very little resistance and just moves realtively freely.
Haven't had her taken to the garage yet, still trying to figure out what could be going on.
Certainly hope this is not a major problem.Even though the body is full of rust, the engine still runs great and the car provides reliable transportation.
(which is what a car is all about isn't it?)
back from the garage and on the road again! It was the linkage - about $140 to repair.
