Occasional loss of headlights, directional signal, seat heat

Post by 3rdvolvoguy »

Occasionally when I turn on my 99 S70 AWD (52,000 miles), all systems are fine except that I have no headlights, directional signal, or seatwarmer. If I turn the car off, wait a few seconds, and start it back up, everything is fine. I have never lost any of these functions while operating the car. This problem first occurred two years ago, but didn't recur until another year had passed. But it is happening now with greater frequency--a couple of times per week. My mechanic speculates that I have a faulty ignition switch. My S70 has been free of electrical problems to date. Any ideas? Many thanks!

Many S70s (including ours) have had failures of the mechanical side of the ignition switch and I have read some reports of problems with the electrical side. Yours sounds like the latter.
