Hi Matthew,
I have a 1995 Volvo 850 GLE Non-Turbo. There was a drop in temperature of 30 degrees overnight and (as I have experienced before when this happens), I now have the amber arrow flashing on the dash. This is the same light that normally comes on when you select the winter transmission mode. The car is only operating in its 3rd gear "limp home" mode.
I am familiar with this problem and past diagnostics have shown nothing to be wrong - I've been told it's a TCM 313 Code, has something to do with the PNP switch and the dealership has cleared the code (for a price of course).
I was wondering if there is any way that I can clear this code myself and avoid the extra expense of taking my car into the dealership for a problem I am aware of and have been told is not serious. I had a full service done in December 2002 and the car is regularly maintained.
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,
Yes, you can do it yourself... it involves simple procedure on a rudimentary input device in the engine bay. I don't know it -- 1996's and up don't have this, instead using the OBDII port near the shift handle and a laptop or dedicated code reader.
I'll look around the web for the procedure today.
