My 1997 850 T5 has had some steering noise/vibrations lately. I brought it in a few months ago. The mechanic added some power steering fluid, which seemed to solve the problem. Now, a few months later, the problem is recurring. The mechanic said that there is a leak in the seals near the rack and pinion and that the pump has air in it (causing the noise). He suggested replacing the rack and pinion and pump, at significant cost. Is there another, less costly, alternative?
Doug.
