hows it giong everyone,
i was recently offered a 95 850 that overheats, has a blown headgasket, and has 120k on it for 1000 dollars. i was wondering what would be needed to change the headgsket, and how tough it would be. also, should i risk driving the car about two hundred miles so i can work on it? it sounds like a good deal, but i was just wondering if the hassle would be worth it. any help would be much appriciated. thanks alot.

If you need to ask what would be involved in changing the headgasket, it's probably beyond your capability. It is a VERY involved process. You won't be able to drive the car 10 miles without the pistons melting to the side of the cylinder walls and the oil boiling if the car is overheating and has a blown headgasket. You can buy a replacement engine from a salvage yard for probably around $800 and expect to be charged at very least another $1000 to have it put in. Not really worth it if you ask me.
Like said above, the head gasket is extremely difficult to replace. Let's put that into some numbers. It is about a 50 dollar part. The labor cost my friend got for his when it was blown was over 1400 dollars. That is a lot of labor. I wouldn't try it. Also, it will overheat right away. 200 miles is not happening.
