Here's the story--
On March 17, I turned over my '99 V70R and a check for $1,000 to my local Volvo dealer. In exchange, I thought I was ordering a 2005 V50, for delivery in late April/early May. Today, after checking in for my weekly status check, the dealer called me back to tell me that there is not going to be a car for me, because it is too late for Volvo to make a V50 to my specs.
Can someone tell me what my options are? Apparently there are no models that they can locate for me. They also said they would not be able to honor my price on a 2006 V50, which is what I think they should do.
Needless to say, I'm disappointed and peeved to say the least, and don't want to have to settle for a car that doesn't have the options that I want.
Any advice? Thanks.

surely if youve paid a deposit, they have to supply you with the car you ordered at the price you agreed?
english law anyhow ~ or give you a full refund?? ie $1000 + the value agreed for your v70R

I thought that when you paid your deposit you would have made a legal contract between you and the volvo dealer. The dealer should not have taken on the contract with yourself if they knew they could not deliever.
Is there a local solicitor that you can seek advice from?
Good Luck

There is a clause in the contract that says if the manufacturer refuses to make a car, and the dealer notifies me "promptly" and gives me a refund, then I have no recourse. I also have no car. I'm thinking of going to the state Attorney General if I don't get any satisfaction.
Thanks for your responses. I'll keep you posted.

Try calling Volvo North America Corporate Offices. They are generally very good at solving problems. Very nice people to deal with.

I sent a letter to the GM and owner of the dealer, and to Volvo as well.
The story gets even better. The dealer lost the extra steel rims and snow tires that I left in the car, and doesn't want to take responsibility for the items.

I would go to the AG's office for your state. My brother worked for the NH AG's office as a lawyer and if there is any previous complaints you should be able to at least get a letter sent to the dealer. Most of the time that will solve your problem.
