96 859 Turbo Service light

Post by jpzsck »

How do I shut off the service light on this model. According to this site an OBDII diagnostic meter should shut off this code but two different meters would not detect a code and the light is still on. This was a transition year so is it done differently for this model?

I meant 850 not 859.

You need to distinguish between the check engine lite and the 'service needed' (or whatever the heck it is). The check engine lite is for codes, the other is a reminder to change you oil every 5k miles. This lite requires a different tool to reset and goes off on its own after 5 minutes or sumthin. Most folks just live with it, you can buy a reset tool from IPD if you want.
