2000 v70 xc starts and then shuts down

The car will start fine and then shuts down. It does not happen all the time. the car has a new fule pump and 48,000 miles. any ideas

I had the same problem - there's a ring around where you put the key in that communicates with a transponder in the key - apparently there's a known issue where the ring goes bad, which causes the car to start intermittently.
