S70 distorted radio quality (radio antenna)!

Post by Guest »

I have a 2000 S70 and have noticed that on occasion, the sound quality of the radio get blurry or distorted. It sounds like a small amount of static that reduces the volume a little and adds a small bit of distorted sound. Anyone else have this problem and have a soluction?

With the CD player, the speakers work fine. So I am thinking it might have to do with the antenna?

Thanks.

Have you had the radio out of the car and maybe didn't connect the ground strap? Most likely the antenna is grounding out.

No, the radio has never been tampered with. It's factory-installed with the cassette and CD player. How can I check if the antenna is causing the problem and needs replacement or repair?

Thanks!
