Volvo wont start after changing fuel filter.
Hi guys, let me unleash my volvo woes on you. I got this car for free from a friend who was going to junk it after thinking it would no longer run. I found out he had simply overfilled the oil, changed the oil and everything was tip top. I have been trying to get the car in good shape as it appears little or no maintenance has ever been done on it. It is a 1992 240 Wagon with an automatic transmission. So Friday I changed the air filter and it worked fine. Saturday I changed the oil, the fuel filter, and the transmission filter. Now I can not start the car. I've tried putting the old filter back on, and it does appear that the fuel pump is working as we can hear the hum and every time we try cranking the car and taking the fuel filter off there is gas in it. None of the lines seem to have a leak or anything either, so I can not figure out what the problem is. Any help would be highly appreciated, keep in mind the car would not start after these problems, but it will turn over. Thanks again, Jason.

just wondering if the car is a diesel or gas . If it is a diesel you want to fill up the filter with fuel so your pump does keep just sucking on air. If it is a gas motor , you should be able to get it running with just a few seconds of cranking.

check fuel pump fues, u may also have air lock problems, loosen the fuel line entering the fuel rail. keep cranking till the car starts, tighten the fuel rail connection.
