Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon Suspension Noise
We own a 1988 Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon. My wife drives the car and said it was making front end noise driving over any bumps. I noticed that the driver's side front tire was starting to wear excessivly on the outside/side wall of the tire. Upon driving the car I notice after completing a right hand turn and coming back to neutral with the steering wheel there was an audible noise (clunk) and physical "shift" in the front end (driver's side ). It was as if the steering was hung up on something and then released allowing the steering to come to neutral. I know that this has to do with the front end. My guess is the strut assembly. Or could it be a bushing or ball joint? How do I diagnoss this and can I fix this without getting smeared by the auto repair shop. Thank you for any replys.
