Saab owner looking at S40.......

My '02 Saab 9-3 SE lease is up in a couple of weeks and I have just been looking at my options. I have narrowed it down to a new 9-3 or a Volvo S40. I test drove a 2.4i 5spd the other day and it was a very solid car but lacked power and acceleration. I think I am going to test a T5 6spd and see how that compares. Does anyone have any strong opinions on the Volvo vs. the Saab? I do like the fact that I can get 17" wheels on the volvo among other options but would like to keep the MSRP right at or under $30k. I also get Ford X-plan pricing for the Volvo and GM supplier discount pricing for the Saab.

hey buddy, i bought my s40 2 months ago... this car is great... i havent driven the 2.4L, but i can imagine how underpowered it is... the s40 t5 on the otherhand, is a great joy to drive... ive had no problems with this car yet... i do not regret buying this car... from what i remember... i dont think the X plan works on the T5... i had that available to me also... i think the best way is just to chat with several internet sales people and compare prices. that's what i did... i got my T5 for 24,300... whoops... i just noticed that your post was in march... well, i dont wanna waste all this, so i'll post this anyway... bye!

S40 T5 AWD, im speechless..

.. u have to drive it around a turn to understand. I've been on a Lancer Evo8, im not saying it handles aw well, but its pretty close.

well im just about to take del of a new s40 2.4i, i hope its not underpowered, the 1.8 definately was, maybe we shoulda test drove the 2.4i before buying it?

Anyone got one?
