Overdrive Switch on Shifter from '82 240DL

Hi, my name is Brian and I just bought an 82 240DL and am trying to get into tip top shape now, but I need a little help. I accidently pulled the knob off of the shifter disconnecting the overdrive switch. I am hesitant just to plug it in since I don't have a way to know if the polarity matters. Does anyone know if it matters how the wires connect, or can I just plug it back in

Go ahead and connect it, polarity doesn't matter. It is just a potential free switch closing the circuit.

Thanks. I thought it probably didn't matter but didn't want to risk damaging anything.
