can any one tell me what the proceedure for resetting the service light on a 89 240dl?

Searched Long and hard for this myself. The answer was under my nose in the old ass Haynes book the last owner gave me with the car.

Jetronic LH 2.4 and 3.1

To clear any diagnostic codes, install the test lead into socket #2 and turn the key to ON (engine not running). Press the diagnostic button for at least 5 seconds and release. The LED should come on. Once the LED is activated, depress the button again for at least 5 seconds and wait for the LED to cancel. Now, press the button a 3rd time for less than 3 seconds and wait for the LED to flash code 1-1-1. This code indicates that the memory has been erased and cleared. Turn the ignition OFF, remove the test lead from socket #2 and install the cover on the diagnostic socket

EZ 116k ignition system

** Same as above exept use Socket #6

Use the "1 mississipi, 2 mississipi" counting system (My buddy made me do that and it worked 1st time)

worked great.. but its MississiPPi cant forget the double p when doing this xD
