Let me start off by saying this forum was an excellent resource for my S70. I extend a thanks to everyone that's helped me through my many ordeals. I really appreciate it.

Today is the day I trade in my Volvo. I won't even mention what the replacement is, no need to compare apples to oranges. In the two years I've had this car it has seriously taken 5 years off my life. It has been the worst experience of my life. Things would break or go bad faster than I could replace them. I did a lot of the work myself to save money. I'd have easily spent $10,000 going to the stealership for every problem. Anytime I did break down and take it to the dealer (or independent Volvo specialist) I would return with a larger credit card bill and a laundry list of addition problems that needed addressed.

If you have an older Volvo that is solid, good for you, your one of the lucky ones. If you have a brand new Volvo and are on a first name basis with the local service writer, good for you. If you have a Volvo that falls in between those two categories I really feel bad for you. I guess not really you, but what you're up against.

Yeah, ok. If I had a Chevy with 190,000miles it would be in way worse shape than this S70 is and probably not even be on the road. The car is solid, the fenders would deflect a 9mm I'm sure. But the electrical system, the brain, all it's sensors and modules, has got to be the worst in automotive history. Maybe I have an exception to the rule. Maybe YOU have the exception to the rule. I don't know.

My mind is made up. I'll never own another one. I know people that have multiple, and they love everyone. I was really hoping this car was going to live up to the hype. It failed miserably. In two years my repair bills and parts easily exceeded the purchase price of the car ($8,995). To get it "cherry" I'd be looking at another $4,000 or so. I can't justify that. It isn't some awesome car I can't live without. Believe me, I can live without it. I kinda feel like this whole experience was like being desperately in love with a women that wouldn't stop cheating on me.

Peace out MVS Forum... :|

In a way I think they are vengeance from God and I tend to drink too much at times and perhaps I deserve it. Penance comes in strange ways but most of mine comes with a fair amount of swearing while working on a Volvo in the driveway. I'm not a church goer on a regular basis but I spend a heck of a lot of Sundays with a wrench in my hand working on cars.

Best of luck to you with your new ride.
