Vacuum System Help please for 1981 240 DL

Post by Samnu »

I just received a 1981 Volvo 240 DL for free from a family member due to it being hit in the front. The car has been sitting for 7 years and when I tried to start it i found that it would not start. I had my brother pull the intake so i could get to the fuel distributor. He took the intake off and didnt mark any of the vacuum lines. I have been stuck for a few days trying to figure this out and no luck to this point. I would really like it if i could receive some information on the vacuum system. Thank you for your time on this matter

Thank you answering my request but I would like to know how I would go about calling you. I do not knowy you phone number. My car is still dead due too much gas going into the engine. I have takin the whole thing apart and cleaned everything up. Nothing really looked bad just some carbon build up in some spots. I had the injectors flow tested and cleaned out so i know it is not those. I have hooked a fuel pressure tester up to the system and found that while it is trying to start it runs about 60psi on fuel pressure. If i hit the pressure release valve on the tester and take it to about 45-50 psi it will start and run. I can not run it for that long becuase the hoses are not attacked and now it sprays oil all over the place. It is pumping so much gas into the engine that the cyliders are filling up with gas if i crank it for any amount of time. If it dont start within the first few seconds of turning it over it floods out and the spark plugs are just soaking wet with gas. I can start it and run it about 5-10 seconds before it floods itself out and if i try and let it idle it wont even run that long. If you would like to email me about the vacuum lines that would be wonderful. Any ideas on the other problems i would be very thankful i have been trying to chase this down for 2 weeks or so on my off days from work and I am getting tired of it.
