s80 tiptronic gearbox

I would like to try to make a paddleshift.
Looking at the gearshift, it has rod linkage and what looks like microswitches.
Does anyone know if the manual shift is controlled from the switches?
If so it will be easy!

when i use the geartronic; as it autodownshifts at stops, you can feel something clicking in the shifter; so i assume you're problably correct.
