245 Diesel estate car Exhaust pipe

Post by andrea »

Hi
I would be very grateful for any explications concerning the replacement of the entire exhaust-pipe line of a 245 diesel estate car.
i have all the parts necessary but I've never changed the exhaust pipe on a volvo.
I've done similar work on my former Opel but the first part of the exhaust which is connecting to the engine is quite different so I'm a bit puzzled..
More precisely I don't know how to connect the upper tube of the "Y" which goes to the engine.
(sorry about the unprecise language but I'm neighter mechanician nor native speaker :-) )

look under your car and lay the pipes out in the same order they are on your car. I think you have to get underneath (use jackstands so the car does not fall on you) and look up to see the y connection under the manifold. In the process of unbolting and replacing you will get dirt and rust in your eyes which is why exhausts are not my favorite. The rubber pieces can be tough to disconnect.
