Performance Exhaust

Hi. I have an 88 740 Turbo. The exhaust is rusted out pretty bad. I would like to put a performance exhaust on while I am changing it. It is my girfriend's car so it can't be really loud. What have other people used? What do you recommend? I also have a repeated exhaust leak at the donught. Any body know why this keeps hapening?
