1996 850 (non turbo) SRS light

I am fighting an SRS light and I'm losing! I had the codes checked and had to replace the clock spring for the driver's side air bag. All that checks out but now my mechanic tells me that it is reading a seat belt retractor code. He nor I either one knows exactly what that means let alone how to fix it. Plaese helppppppp!
