Engine not turning when starting

Post by Dodgiemtl »

I currently own a Volvo S70 2000 SE (manual tranny) and purchased it from private seller. It has been an amazing drive with one minor prblm. In 4 months I have a owned it I have had 3 instances where when i try and start the car the engine does not turn and you just hear a clicking noise. Past 2 occassions, the next day it started fine. Sometimes it would start fine after 15 min. Today in a parking lot after parking it for 10 min and coming back, I tried to start it and again it just clicks (this happens randomly). The 1st time i towed it to my specialized Volvo mechanic, he said it is prob a loose connection or a sensor that is preventing from starting. Anyone that experienced the same problem and any short term ideas to get the engine to turn? This is getting fustrating since the performance of the car has been good so far. Any help ASAP would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a typical faulty starter or possibly a very low battery (charging problem). How many miles on the car?
