Thinking about trying the overseas program, where they give you free round trip tickets from the US, you pick the car up hot off the factory floor, and you can drive it around europe for a few weeks. They claim you can buy the car cheaper than in the US, and the shipping back to a dealer in the US is free.

Anyone have anything good or bad to say about this program?

I have never heard anything bad about that program. Matter of fact, one of my customers recently bought a 2003 S80 oversea. He said it was fun and well worth it.

A co-worker of mine also did this and will not stop talking about it.

She said they saved a bunch of money on the car as well as saving on the cost of a rental they would have had to put out while over seas.

'been thinking about it myself. If you get around to it, let me know how it goes.

My father and myself purchased a 1994 Volvo 940DL and picked it up in Gottenberg Sweden. It was outstanding. They have a huge showroom with amazing cars on display and everything you would ever want to know about Volvo on the walls. You can buy products I have never seen in the States before and they are all in English (as it is the Second language of everyone in Sweden, practically). We then were escorted to a bay with our car in it and allowed to take it on the test track for a little fun. We also ended up with many extras in our car that we did not pay for nor did we expect. Little things like headlight wipers and heated seats but hey they were not in our agreement so all the better. We also drove around Europe for awhile, taking the ferry across the Sea back to Copenhagen and then on to Italy and then finding one of their many places to drop it off and 4 weeks later we picked up the car again in Sunny Phoenix Arizona. It was all detailed and everything was as pristine as when we bought it (not when we dropped it off). Highly recommend using the program.

We purchased an 03 XC70 through the overseas delivery program early this year and thoroughly enjoyed the process: great price on the car & a great trip to boot. In fact, we are talking about keeping the XC70 for less than the 200,000 miles we put on our two 240 series Volvos so we can go back and do it again. For alot of commentary on OSD you might want to go to http://xc70.com click on the forums option and then select the OSD forum. Theres a lot of good info in there that would apply to any Volvo OSD purchase not just XCs.
